Comment: on the other side of the US, in the Pacific, white sturgeon get to be 18-25 feet long. so not only are sturgeon one of the oldest fish species, but they are one of the biggest.

Comment: These fish are starting to make a comeback in the James River. However, it is strickly a catch and release fishery. I've been on trips where they have been trying to catch large females in nets for the VDGIF for stocking. An impressive fish to see and I can't wait for them to return in some numbers. Already there are more out there than people realize and I hope it stays that way for a few more years to come.

Comment: last summer, I went to the malden river a real lot to fish for carp, and stripers. I believe, that I saw one of these cruise by the malden river a few times. most of them that i saw were like a couple feet, but i saw one about up to my shoulder. I just wasn't to sure if it was a sturgeon, but I tried to catch it a few times with a lure, but it wouldn't take the lure. Im guessing it was a sturgeon but I don't know that fo sure.
